Answer: We get this question a lot, as this is a popular pastime, until you try to find something for the soles. We have spoken to many people who are making them for children, and toddlers, where you really need something with grip but soft and sewable too.

So I'm pleased to report that one of our customers gave our Lightweight Fine Mesh a try, as she had tried everywhere to get the cotton type fabric with the non slip dots, to no avail. The fine mesh fabric sews easily, and at only 1.4mm deep is very flexible, is very non slip and washable at 40 degrees c.  The customer actually crochets her slippers, and they look fabulous, with bright flecked wool colours, they are soft, warm and comfortable, but without the non slip fabric would just not be practical.

So we were delighted when she returned to us a pair of slippers with the fabric sewn in for the soles, see the pics below:

The Lightweight Fine Mesh fabric is available in Black or White, available 'By the Metre' in a 91cm/36" or 183cm/72" width. We also often have remnant packs of sizes ideally suited to this type of use, so worth checking our Clearance Section or give us a call.  Click on this link for 'By the Metre'
